Hi All,

I live in the UK (Scotland). Many of the US manufactured attachments are not available here, eg. King Kutter, Land Pride or Everything Attachments. I have spoken to UK based freight forwarders about importing attachments from the US, but the prices are huge $900+ per item! Whole containers would be far cheaper per item but need to be full to achieve this economy.....so that does not work.

Of possible relevance: it appears that if booking shipping in the UK, it is cheaper to send goods to the US than to bring them back to the UK.

Can anyone suggest any way of getting attachments shipped to the UK at a "sensible" price? Are there any US based dealers who can ship to the UK?

Thanks,
Duncan

I think the only cheap shipping is by container full of implements. Trouble with shipping one item is the number of middlemen who each take a fee to transport by land to a container consolidator, then the actual shipping and then customs etc.

Why not buy European implements? I know there are some differences but most tractor implements are available on both sides of the pond.

Yes that was my understanding: for one item many different middlemen are involved who all charge thus cost is very high. Unlike shipping whole containers.

Why not European implements - where compact type implements are available, they are very expensive. For example this 8' landscape rake (Demo/Used Equipment | Blec Global Ltd) is $2440 + taxes! I guess the problem is that compact tractors are not so common in Europe, thus the market for implments for them is small so prices are high.

I need to find someone in the US who is:
a) helpful
b) ships containers of goods to the UK
c) has a bit of spare space in said containers........!

I would bet you could have a local metal shop build you a landscape rake for less than that. They are really very simple devices built mostly from thick angle iron and a few non precision slabs of 1/2" steel. The only tricky part is punching out the square holes for the tine attachment points and a good metal shop will have the tools to do that easily. Otherwise you could build one yourself.
