Re: Voltmaster PTO generator
It states it is a revolving field, alternating current generator. The parts diagram refers to it as an alternator and I do not see any reference to brushes. Wouldn't there be brush access covers on the sides of the generator if it were a brush type? Also the fact it says it can generate 15kw constant and 16kw surge suggests to me it is a brushless type and brush type generators are much better at handling surge loads. As you probably can tell, I am not an electrician and only have a healthy desire to not be killed be electrocution. It is the exact same unit as sold by Harbor Freight and Torq and references the name "Segma" in the owner's manual. Pictures soon to be posted.
Any generator gurus please chime in with knowledge so I might gain some.

Re: Voltmaster PTO generator
First pic is how crappy the oil fill plug was tapped at an angle...going to request another plug plate & gasket. I don't believe gasket can seal opening.
Second pic is the PTO which measured 26" from safety lock to safety lock...barely touching when hooked. Not sure what I can do.
Third Pic just photo of gen hooked up.
Fourth Pic the control panel
Fifth Pic another shot of unit attached to tractor.

Re: Voltmaster PTO generator
I suspect there really isn't an easy answer for this, but.....What all do you think you can run at the same time with one of these? I've been wanting one for a long time and those are some of the lowest prices I've seen. I'm mainly interested in running my 2 freezers and 2 fridges which I don't think would be an issue with this unit. But it would be awfully nice to have hot water and run the heat pump periodically as the kerosene heaters stink not to mention the potential carbon monoxide issue. I know I can't run everything at the same time.
Looks like Rural King and Harbor Freight are both on back order. Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, consult.

Re: Voltmaster PTO generator
No kidding, I sometimes wonder if the Chinese will ever catch on. I remember when "Made in Japan" was a dirty word...my how times have changed. The gears in the gear reduction unit appeared to be expertly done. I suppose the 5 year olds are in charge of tapping the oil overflow plug hole. Hope they get thirty lashes!!!

I am going to contact Rural King and request another tapped plate and discuss the pto shaft.
