Lawn sweepers?

I just got a deal on a Smyth 52TB sweeper :D Found it on the local Craigslist. I wrote to the maker in Canada and this particular model is now discontinued but sold for over $4500 new. I got it for $600 delivered. I guess we all get lucky every now and then. I just need to lube it up and makeup a power cable for the electric dump option.

That Smyth Sweeper is a keeper. I see the odd one on Kijiji and the seller's generally ask $1500 to $2000.

Here is one of their new models.

If you get the one on display you miss out on the fun of putting it together. Good thing your gonna miss it.:)

Hope you have good luck with it. I remember the days when the staff at department stores worked on commission and most knew the products they were selling. Not sure how it works now but I can tell things sure have changed.

My Craftsman 42" has been good so far. As nap61 says the bag is a little cheesy but so far adequate.

It's even worse than salesmen not knowing the product Steave, this guy is the owner of one of the small Sears stores. He agreed to have it ready for me when I got there to make the exchange, which was 5 days after the phone conversation, of coarse when I got there it was still on the display rack. He had a really good reason for it though... he forgot. I finally got the display model and as you said I didn't have to put it together. The problem is not just with Sears but it seems people at all of these "no service" type stores are pretty much clueless. If they had a shop and actually worked on the products they sell, maybe they would have a chance to learn something about them.

Amigauser, that is a real lawn sweeper congratulations on the find.

I hope your sweeper gives you as good a service as mine has. I'm sure it'll give better service than you received from the sales person:)

The leaves are really falling so I'm about give mine a workout.

Hope you're staying safe up that way, heard the storm was getting rough.

I spent 3 hours last Thursday with the $25 Craftsman sweeper behind my 12 hp Wheelhorse, the last hour with the lights. During that time, I pushed up the pile 4-5 times with the plow on the front of my Farmall Cub. My kids spent the day Friday playing in that big pile (they didnt have to go to school due to conferences or something). It has rained here in Upstate NY every day since Friday and Sandy has just pushed through, but luckily, we did not even loose power. I am sure happy with the performance of that $25 Craftsman sweeper.

Yea, rub it in wolc123, about 2 days after I got mine home a guy at work told me about one in the local paper, cheap, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Thanks for thinkin' of us Steave the storm came and went with no problems here just some branches down in the yard, I haven't had a chance to check out the woods yet though. We are pretty well protected here by the mountains.

How dose the Smythwelding sweeper work? I have tried a few and what a waste of my time! Wheel gears, plastic belly pan, one path then you gotta. Empty it! Phewwwwwwww. I am in the making to design and build my own! There are a couple of them on the net which are either too bulky or two $$$$$$$$. Nature Sweep wants $13,000.00 for theirs. www.naturesweep.com.
