Rear Blade Rear Blade for JD 5303

Attached is a 7' blade I found for a reasonable price. It swivels but doesn't tilt. Any opinions welcome.

You gonna move snow with it and an occasioal pile of dirt? Or would you be needing to do something that requires it to swivel? The links you posted arent working for me

The intended use would be grading roads and maybe establishing ditches.

Curious the thoughts on how important the tilt function is and if the 7' width would be sufficient for the 5303. If buying a new one, probably would lean toward an 8' unit.

There was not a picture on the link. How wide is your tractor? When you angle the blade you want it to be wider than the tractor. The tilt function is nice for ditch work.

I have the same tractor. That 7 footer looks like an awfully good deal, but I'd wait until you found an 8 foot blade. You've got plenty of tractor for it.

With no pictures and only $250 I'd be suprised if it is a heavyduty enough of a blade for your tractor.

For ditching, I think you are going to want Tilt AND offset. Not sure what your budget is, but everything attachments just came out with a 6-way blade that will angle, tilt, AND offset. Would be a good match if you can swing the pricetag. Everything Attachments Xtreme Duty Tractor Scrape Blade

And even if you do find a good used one heavy enough for your tractor, 8' wide, and having tilt and offset, it aint gonna be cheap. At least not $250 cheap.

The price was more or less driving the inquiry. As far as actually NEEDING one....probably don't. Have made do without one for years. Would purchase forks and grapple before paying retail on a blade that would be seldom used. Guess thats why I would consider the 7' versus the preferred 8'.

If I am wrong and it is a HD blade, you cant go wrong. But I fear that for the price, it is an awfully light duty blade and in short order you will be left with a $250 peice if scrap metal worth $40.

Do you by chance even remember a model #??

I can not seem to get the file to post. Everytime it will go through the upload function and then end with an error/red exclamation mark. Any ideas what is going on? The file is 1.4 MB.

The file might need re-sized.

Another option, instead of using the quick picture inserter, go to advanced at the bottom, and then scroll down and click "manage attachmetns" and try that way. If that dont work........check your PM

That is a good price and I have a 7' rear blade for my 35 hp Kubota. I don't have tilt either just 5 angle settings but can adjust the top link and make it do whatever I need it to. Haven't seen any pic but make sure whatever you get is heavy duty with a replaceable wear bar on the blade. I much prefer a rear blade to a box blade and believe it can perform many more tasks in the right hands.

Sorry I cannot help. But something funky is going on.

I downsized the image to ~230k, and still wouldnt let me upload.
Check photo properties, it said it was a locked image since it came from another computer, so I unlocked it.

Still no go.

Opened with paint and made a modification...

But I can upload any of the other images in "my pictures"

Puzzling. I wanted to get it uploaded, cause others here will be more knowledgable as to what model that blade is, and wether it will hold up to your tractor.

Still no luck. Tried saving as bmp, png, and gif and none of them will go either. Pic must have some setting that is locked out that I cant get to.

I've got one more trick to try though....

I think it is something with the pic uploader on TBN now. Not sure if they are looking into it, but 99% of the pics I post here are off my phone. I just took a pic with my phone and it wont let me upload it.

The test pics I tried earlier are pics that I have already uploaded before. They are the only ones that seem to go through. But I cant get ANY new pics to load now:mur:

Our Xtreme duty scrape blade would be plenty for that tractor and then some. It is rated up to 80HP but isn't close to the same ballpark as the blade the OP is thinking about. The closest blade on the market to ours is probably the Rhino 500 series blade. The Rhino blade is a pretty nice blade but compared to our blade, their 6' is 80 pounds lighter, 7' is 88 pounds lighter and the 8' is 145 pounds lighter. Ours will also be ALOT easier on the wallet.
