+1 for what Island Tractor said. People put too much of an emphasis on choosing tractors based on your dealer. You will rarely ever bring your tractor in for work, and the few times you do, or just need supplies, it's not that difficult to drive a few extra miles.

Overall, it is a net positive having a tomboy wife but I'm sure there will be a sign out sheet on who can use the tractor at various times.

I like your attitude. If he acts up remind him there are lots of guys on TBN would would appreciate a tractor savvy mate.

There is little to complain about with the GL5740. My only question relates to your initial post which seemed to be looking for a smaller tractor. 50+ HP in a CUT is useful mostly for pulling a large mower of about 8-10 feet width. Not many folks have more than a six foot mower due to maneuverability issues though for open pastures a 10-15ft batwing is real nice.

If you are not mowing with greater than a 6-7ft mower, you really don't need more than 40hp or so. Loader strength is related more to frame size than horsepower so there are even 40hp tractors with loaders as strong as the GL5740.

Well he went with the L5740. It is going to take a few weeks for all the implements to come in but delivery pics will be forthcoming. :)
