Rear Blade Rear Blade 1026r. Best bang for the buck?

Hello everyone.

As usual I am trying to get my best bang for the buck when it comes to attachments for my 1026R. I have the FEL and Box Blade already. Snow season is approaching and I am wondering if it is now time to buy that rear blade. I currently use a push snow blower for my snow removal needs but was hoping to use the tractor as well this year. FEL seems like it could be helpful with removing large pile ups, but just don't see it being useful in plowing the driveway and parking area. Investing in a front plow to mount to the FEL arms seems like a 1 season investment. Figure the rear blade is probably much cheaper and it can be used in the non-snow season for grating down trails in my woods.

Anyone have thoughts on this? Also can anyone enlighten me on various jobs a rear blade would fall superior to over my box blade? Need all the knowledge I can obtain. I need to do my sales pitch to the wife.

I use a TSC blade 5' about $250 for my GT light enough not to damage the asphalt but clears the snow. I would rather have a front blade but really don't have enough clearing to go that route. Beats the heck out of a snow shovel though.

Over the last 50+ years, I have bought everything from cheap to name brand and I now only buy Land Pride, Woods etc., for me the "best bang for the buck" is to buy quality once. I like a blade with the ability to off set and tilt. I have a TSC that hasn't been used in a couple of years; just my opinion.

Sorry I guess what I meant for best bang for the buck is, attachment that I will get the most use of, not who has the best priced product. Wanted an attachment that helps me in my snow removal details as well as having other uses. I know rear blade isn't the ultimate attachment to tackle this duty but feel it will be very useful and can break it out in other seasons. Snowblower/plow just sit after winter.

That's pretty much what the mower deck does during it's off season. I know they are expensive but a single stage thrower on the front will probably impress you with the ease at which it makes snow disappear.

I agree with you for the most part but a 1026R isn't going to be worth much for rearblade work anyway. The TSC rearblade is good enough for a GT or subcompact. I haven't seen much in the way of small rear blades with full hydraulic control. I agree that the larger blades would need to be a name brand high quality model for dirt work.

i started writing the same thing but then said heck with it. Most of the tsc rear blades are getting trashed by the bigger tractors. certainly a 1026 which is way under most of the blade hp ratings will last a long time
