Crazy as it sounds, the Deere MX5 seems like the best deal, to me.

You'll like the MX5 Mike. It's a nice medium duty cutter that the LX units are not. I think you'll be happy with it.

Fully configured, write the check price for KK is $1000 for me. That's $400
less than a MX5. $100.00 less than M&W.

I haven't seen any LandPride around where I shop.

KC Canary is a little far to drive /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif But it might be worth it...

BTW I am pasture mowing, not reclaiming the jungle...

Well, Here is where it stands:

LX5 at $1050
LX6 at $1200
MX5 at $1350

Both include chain guards, slip clutch and are put the door, write the check prices.

I agree the x13 series were junk. But the LXx look like good mowers...

But the MX should last forever....

.......and if not forever Mike, then it should last a very, very long time assuming you don't mow too many rocks. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

which dealer is that and where abouts is it? my dealer wanted for a LX 4 w/o slip clutch was 1042 and the lx 5 was 1140 w/o slip clutch. i think slip clutch i'm guessing is 100$ i could get one from that dealer cheaper even paying ~75-100 shipping and come out ahead.

I realy like the LX's rounded shape and the guard configuration. Looks like a winner to me.

Well, Corriher is out, they don't do chain guards...

Chain guards are not offered at this time. This cutter has an extended lip that covers the blade an additional 4". Thanks.

But, wouldn't that mean it doesn't need a chainguard?

Maybe Not...

But I have other issues with this one, It still might be a great buy... I just don't want to chance one sight unseen. Another poster got a reply that they are built by First Choice. But, First Choice is no longer MidWest, so who knows?
