    Default NH 273... A deal I couldn't refuse!

After telling myself I'd never get a baler because they were too expensive and a pain-in-the-you-know-where to keep running, I caved! I saw an ad in Craig's list for a NH 273 with a Farmhand 8 pack accumulator and a Farmhand 8 pack picker (fork, grapple, whatever you want to call it), all for $1750. I called the number and it ended up being an implement dealer about 85 miles away. They said they like to put the older small stuff on Craig's List for the hobby farmers to find there, as they know most of us can't afford new equipment and many tend to avoid looking in dealer lots, as to avoid higher prices.

This tactic worked. We talked on the phone and I ended up visiting the lot to look at the stuff. The dealer actually hooked the baler to a tractor and ran it for me so I could see it work. The accumulator needs a little TLC, but nothing major. The grapple may very well be too big and heavy for my little loader, but the baler and accumulator were worth the price alone, so I'm not concerned with the picker in the least. My dad says he has a couple ideas to try with it, so we'll see.

I wasn't sure how I was going to transport all this stuff, as I'd need to make at least two trips with my trailer to get them. My dealer said, "Okay, here's what we can do. I'll knock $50 off the top and deliver it for $300. You get the whole works to your door for $2000 even."

    "Deal!"

Now to get some heavy tarps to cover it all.
