I have read that someone had chained rear mount forks to their front bucket. Has anyone done this and if so could you tell us how you made the hook up. Better yet if you could show pictures. Thanks

My kubota M6800 has a skidsteer type bucket mount. The forks I use fit 3pt or skidsteer hitch. This is safer than a chain.

I'll try to describe it (photos below).

A pipe the diameter of the top link pin was welded to the top of a HD bucket on a L3650. The width was cut to just fit in the top link mount of the forks. There was MUCH, MUCH reinforcing done and metal support using angle iron all around the pipe. Then the forks were pinned to the bucket at the top link.

The two lower arm link pins were on extensions to the forks that came out about 3". These sat on the bucket lip and gave relief/support to the top link. (You can barely see the forks with the lower arm attachment point in this photo of a BX2200.)

But you could weld those type supports on and custom fit them to the bucket.

The problem of securing the forks on a dump cycle was handled by welding a chain to the fork's lower cross member and then attaching it to a grab hook welded on the back of the bucket by going underneath the bucket. (You can see the scorch marks on the bucket of the L3650.)

It worked like a charm for many years of logging, brushing, and general pallet work. A heavy duty bucket should be considered a must for this to all come together.
