Will my tractor handle a post driver?

Shaver HD8 and HD10's will work just fine on limited flow. The lift cylinder is MAYBE 2" bore. They work fine on even less flow than the published requirements. Even with hyd tilt and angle, the cylinders are small and motions are one at a time and generally slow and controlled.
Rick, you are mistaken. The lift "cylinder" is the rod. ... somewhat less than an inch diameter.

Nice to hear from you, Larry.

The bore diameter is greater than that of the rod (maybe 2", maybe less), but the effective piston area of the cylinder is the cross section of the rod itself.
I hope that meets your requirements for technical accuracy.
The point is made; flow requirements for Shaver HD8 and HD10 drivers are minimal.
That is the important part, and I got it right.
Shaver drivers do not require anything remotely approaching what a reasonably well informed person would call high flow rates.

I run a Shaver HD10 on a John Deere 990. According to the Shaver specs, I don't have the recommended hd flow, but it works fine for me.

Yeah, I was pretty sure you knew the rod part, but when you didnt say it it left open the flow issue to those not aware of how the cylinder is internally set up. That setup is what ensures a lo flo requirement. To the uninitiated calculating flows based on a 2" +/- cyl would indicate a huge flow and dumpvalve issue [:confused2:]. Thats why I brought it up.

Got a used hd -8. Older model and does not have a stand. Got it plumb to my L4600. Tried it out and I am getting a lot of movement when pounding. So much that it almost missed the post. Any parts that I might need to check out. Or ideas?

I have an HD-8 that I mount on my '65 Ford 2000. I do use the stabilizer bars on the 3 pt. arms. While not totally rigid, I had no problems with it moving that much. I also have a hydraulic top link, which helped in a couple of spots where I needed a little more tilt, to get plumb.

Also I'm sure the flow rate on my 2000 isn't near what it is on your tractor. I set the rpm's at around 1200, and it worked nice and smooth, with no jumping, or jerking.

Not sure how many posts you're planning to drive. Being it is a used driver like I bought, a spare return spring or two may be a good idea. I broke one on mine, while just trying it out. Called the local dealer here, and it would be 7-10 days before they could get one. Did some checking online, and found them at Kencove fence supply in Pa., for 2/3 the price, so ordered 2, and were here in 2 days. Post Driver Springs Drove about 350 posts, with no issues.

Thought you guys might like to see pics of my pounder. It's on a John Deere 3020. I fenced 6 acres. 10 foot high fence.

Very nice. 10' fence... What are you keeping in or out?

Keeping deer out. I wouldn't have gone 10 feet high but our local Department of Natural Resources will provide up to $5,000.00 in fencing materials for free and they require the height. I have another fence that is 8 feet high and have never had a deer get in.
