Backhoe Hydraulic Cylinder for Kubota K-650 Backhoe

Hello Everyone,

On the Kubota K-650 Backhoe I recently acquired, the Dipper(Crowd) Hydraulic Cylinder was damaged. I pulled it off and took it to a local reputable hydraulic repair shop. I learned this afternoon it would most likely more expensive to repair the cylinder then to buy a new one as the Rod is bent and the inside of the Barrel walls are scored.

I am faced with several problems. The first is I have been unable to find a Parts or Service Manual for the Kubota K-650 Backhoe with enough detail. The parts numbers listed are a dead end. I was able to establish the Amerquip (Arps Corporation) built the backhoe for Kubota, however they no longer had any manuals or part specifications as it has been 30 years +/- since the K-650 Backhoe was built. For those reasons, I believe my only alternative is to purchase a new replacement cylinder.

My knowledge of hydraulic system and hydraulic cylinder is very limited, so I need a good solid supplier that can advise me about my options. Specifically, I need a reference for a good hydraulic cylinder supplier in the Portland, Oregon and surrounding area(25 mile radius).

I appreciate any and all referrals.

You might try asking TBN member myyaz33, he posted in the past about that particular backhoe and stated he had a parts manual for it. At the very least maybe it will show the cylinder dimensions so you can order something similar from a place like "Surplus Center." Good luck.

Hi Bud,

I was not able to find a Kubota Hydraulic Cylinder! I tried Harbor Freight, however several cylinders were close, but off just enough that they would not work. I contacted the original Machine Shop that I had taken the damaged cylinder to have fixed. We were able to find one that was a perfect fit for $180.00 plus freight. Total cost was half the repair price.
