Clearing brush and saplings in tight areas.

My property has tons of sweetgum and cedar saplings that I want to get rid of. The area is too tight to get my bush hog through and was thinking of something like this.

Anyone have any experience with this type of cutter? Has anyone made something similar to use on a small tractor?

Interesting. Seems to work good in the video. I wonder if each tree has to be isolated. Or would it still work if they were bunched together ?

Looks like it works good on flatish smooth ground, especially on soft wood. Not much good on the maple and ironwood alongside our trails up here, you could never get up enough speed on the rough ground.

If the trees are smaller than the 4" max, I believe it would work. Once you get a trail thru it just keep widening it to where the tractor/bushhog could get in there to finish it up!

Looks like it works but curious how much stress is put on the vehicle, especially if it doesn't cut the tree on the first try. Probably would be a sudden stop for the 4 wheeler but the driver would continue into the tree.

That shear is a lawsuit waiting to happen. If it doesn't tear up the frame of the ATV quickly enough, it will throw you over the handlebars as soon as you hit one that the shear can't handle.

That's about what I was thinking. I'd bush hog most of those.

Just imagine the shock/stress loads being placed on the ATV, & the rider when it all comes to a screaming halt when headbutts a 40' sapling ........

PaPaJack use your FEL to push those saplings from high up & invest in a grapple or a root raked to clear the debris.....even chaining would be better than this "Tree Shear"..................

Interesting concept but the video shows saplings/brushes that could be easier cut down with a bush hog...
For tight places that are inaccessible with a hog I would prefer a FEL dig out operation to completely remove the stump...
I would be concerned with the stress placed on the ATV...
I don't like the thought of running up at those speeds to a sapling like that...
Looks like a good way to tear up your ATV or worse have an accident...

Certainly it looks dangerous, but with small stuff only I see it working FAST.
If you put an idiot or a kid behind the wheel and if there are larger trees
that need to come down you can bet there is going to be a problem...
