Used Tiller Pricing
I looked online at a local dealer's used equipment. They had a Landpride 1558 tiller. If my understanding of the numbers is right, this tiller is medium duty 58/60 inch.
I called and asked the price. Despite the fact that the unit was pretty rust and looked well used they told me 1500. I told them I thought that was far too much for a tiller in that condition. They told me it had all new tines. To me new tines means the unit has a lot of use on it...
So I guess my question is, how much should a used 60 tiller cost used, and are you just better off buying new?
I told the guy I could buy a brand new King Cutter for that kind of money.
Thanks for your input.
Regards,
Chris

Re: Used Tiller Pricing
Tractor house has new ones for about $2600 and a used one for $900. It all depends on how many rocks the unit has been pounded over and how the shafts and bearings have taken it.

Re: Used Tiller Pricing
I bought a used Kuhn EL-32 (58") tiller for $950 from a local add. The guy was asking $1200 but he thought a bunch and finally took my offer.

Re: Used Tiller Pricing
Thanks BT,
I think based on what I have seen looking for used that a new tiller is the best option for me.... I see a lot of equipment that is beaten to a pulp and people think it's worth 90% of the price of new.... I suspect that dealer gave someone 500 bucks for that on a trade... and now they want 1500... I can buy from Everything Attachments and get free shipping and I think save the sales tax.... The Phoenix tillers look very nice.

Chris

Re: Used Tiller Pricing
landpride.... i dont know what it goes for new but my guess is twice that 3-4K new. so used half off? better than most used impliments at dealers. I bought my rual king 60" tiller for 2000 about 7 years ago or so... I think new versions are 2500.
so 1500 for a used landpride seems reasonable...Steve - TC33D 4x4 FEL, dual rear remotes with toys

Re: Used Tiller Pricing
Hey Steve,
Th prices I've gotten on a Landpride 60" was in the 2800 range. Don't get me wrong, the Landpride equipment is excellnt stuff, I own several LP implements.
For the small amount of tilling I'd do a year I think a KK or Phoenix would do just fine and a few bucks more than the used LP1558.
