JD 990 with a 8a Backhoe
JD tech says that this JD 8a backhoe can not be attached to a JD 990 with a 430 Loader !
I have the JD 8a with a 4" channel subframe but I do not see any attachment points on the rear of the tractor .
Anybody have this combination installed ?
Or do you have a JD 8b Backhoe installed and can show me the attachment points to make a DIY attachment.
Thanks,
Al in Dundas, ON

Re: JD 990 with a 8a Backhoe
Thanks Sal64 for the reply. Pics are worth a thousand words !
So the tractor reinforcing frame is a 5" x 1 3/4" boxed channel ? Which is the backhoe support channel size.
And the forward attachment point is the lower loader pivot at the brake pedal ?
And the rear attachment is bolted to the ROPS supports ?
Thanks,
Al in Dundas, ON

the reinforcing frame is solid steel 1 inch thick.the rear snaps in with that spring pin in the first pic.

Okay, now it makes the parts list sensible.
Just looked under my 990 and see what goes where.
Thanks again,

Re: JD 990 with a 8a Backhoe
Hi Sal,
I bit the bullet and ordered JD Kit BM17019 on Dec. 21, 2012 and picked it up today; makes much more sense than chasing down and McGyvering the ? 790 ? sub-frame that came with the JD 8A Backhoe, bolt ur on and extend the hydraulics to the mid-point.
Thanks again,
Al Ben in Dundas, ON

Re: JD 990 with a 8a Backhoe
Hi Al, congrats on the purchase.
Curious as to why you mentioned the 790 ?, also curious as to how much the kit cost you ?
I've got a 790 w/ 3pt hoe and at times have thought of a sub-frame upgrade.

Re: JD 990 with a 8a Backhoe
Should have said the JD 8A Backhoe came with a frame which fits a JD 50 or JD 70 series tractor.
The kit cost $ 1800.00 CDN with tax.
