I'm shopping for a post-hole digger (3ph attachment), to be used with a Kubota L3800. I'd be interested in others' opinions of Woods versus Danuser.

Welcome to TBN. Imo both are top of the line 3ph units. Buy one you get best deal on. Also these two companys mentioned are of three(I believe) remaining phd manufacture's that still use USA made gearboxes and not Comer types from China.
A phd is not something most of us use daily, do you have a lot of use for it. If not you can get buy with another name brand unit for about $650 includeding auger. Just my :2cents:. Check your gearbox oil and be real careful operating phd keep "help"away from spinning auger and or pto shaft(espeicially if running with no guards). :(

I have a Danuser that my father had on the farm. 30 plus years old still working good. The Danuser folks that started the company are distant relatives of mine. Woods is good stuff too.

Both of those are good brands. We sell a lot of Danuser 3pt hole diggers but the price just isn't practical for many users. Most all mfgs import their gearboxes because there's just not a good domestic source out there. For our Everything Attachments post hole diggers, we use Omni gearboxes and you'll see a clear resemblance if you compare our gearboxes to the big name phds on the market. Most of our post hole diggers ship free to your home within 1,000 miles of Newton, NC. Check them out and you won't be disappointed.

I have a 3pt phd. It works, but ... they are in general a pain in the butt to work. If you are going to use it heavily, a hydraulic one that mounts to the FEL is a LOT better.
