Hi, I just picked up a used Landpride RCR 1860 5' rotary mower sight unseen out of the area yesterday. When it was loaded I had no chance to see the underside and blades of deck and have no experience yet with these at all. I unloaded today with my tractor and am wondering about the blades. I downloaded the manual, but it doesn't show much at all about the blade alignment etc. This one has 2 blades next to each other in appx. a 1:00-3:00ish (o'clock) position. I this right?? Is there any sort of alignment tabs on blades? I would figure these would be opposing...but don't know, and I can't seem to confirm configuration yet with anything I have found online or in it's manual (at this point)...Sheets of orange paint hanging off the bottom and several upward blows, probably from rocks etc. I bought it from a divorcee who knew nothing about except that was only used a couple of seasons, as her gone ex' used it. I will be keeping it indoors. I guess the underside of decks would have a hard time keeping paint anyway...? Sorry for the long post but need to figure out somethings fast so if I have serious problems I need to talk to the seller. It was not cheap. Thanks very much for any thoughts or advice shared. Best, Rob

Hmmm, are you sure the blades don't just appear to be in weird positions? By this I mean, when the gears are engaged and it is spinning they should pivot around so they are opposite each other.
Here is a manual http://www.landpride.com/ari/attach/lp/public/manuals/312-849m.pdf I see you already downloaded but it clearly shows a picture of the blades opposite each other.

What fishrman says, try page 13 of your manual. I have an RCR2672; should be the same.

Page 13 of the manual 312-849M is the one that came up for me online and page 13 in it is only about front and rear guards. I did find a parts breakdown that shows the two blades definitely opposed. Are there no tabs or provision made to insure proper alignment of the blades in the dishpan? I just have only had a peek below so far chained up in the pouring rain on a tight time schedule so I need to get it lifted again asap and inspect more carefully, but I was really wondering when they weren't opposed (as in a 12:00-6:00 manner) Just know nothing about these and couldn't help but to see if what I have here is wrong or not. I can call my Kubota/Landpride dealer tomorrow and find out, but I wanted to get back to the seller right away if something is not "plug& play" as described....Thanks for the replies. Sometimes the blades will get "tangled up". They will hit each other if the tractor is shut off suddenly with the PTO engaged and wedge themselves. Or they can get "tangled up" just lifting the cutter vertically. It's not a big deal to free them. Usually just engaging the PTO will cause them to untangle.

Different page than mine as there is a diagram on mine showing the blades on the stump jumper opposed. The blades are mounted opposite on a bolt/pin which always them to swing freely and extend fully outward when engaged. Might be able to tell this in the attached picture.
