Forks Clamp On Pallet Forks

Have been looking for forks for my 4600 JD backhoe bucket and was discouraged with pricing. I found a great set of forks at a very fair price through wheelsanddeals4you on eBay. Received and mounted them this weekend - they fit thickness of the bucket very well. I am using them to move logs around for a portable sawmill operation and am very happy with them.

Clamp-on pallet forks are one of the things I use alot. They will damage your bucket and bend it a bit. I use them to move logs myself and logs are heavy.
I'm going to try using a section of c-channel shaped steel across the full inside width of the bucked and clamp the forks down into the c-channel.
This will spread the weight and stress across the full bucket width and will help to keep the bucket in shape.

Since you guys are doing what I plan on doing with these clamp on forks I was wondering about capacity of these type of forks. I've found a nice looking set on CL for $145. I own a Kioti CK35 with weighted rear tires. Do you think I'll be able to pick up an 8' to 12' log 30" diameter(all hardwood since this is my firewood operation) with these forks or am I asking TOO much out of them. Also thanks for the hot tip on the C-channel to save my bucket!

In reading this post I can see that alot of people use pallet forks as I do myself. I have 2 sets that I fabricated myself and the channel iron in the bucket is a great idea. I bought one wide fork (8") from the salvage yard and split it down the middle and no the heat didn't mess with the strength of the fork. I welded a "foot" on the back of the fork and it sits inside my bucket with a eye welded in the back of the bucket and a turnbuckle, then done the same on the top of the fork and they work great. I also built a set for the 3pt. hitch out of a smaller set of forks and it comes in handy at times too. I am in the middle of fabricating a boom now and planning to put a 12v winch on it. You can never have too many toys, lol Hey, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. This is just rumor but I heard that Santa renamed his lead deer to John, don't know. ;~p

I have Yankee Warehouse forks and would be interested in the bar, if I can get it onto my forks.

I bought an inexpensive set of pallet type forks for my 955. After a season I had the channel steel forks reinforced so they wouldn't just bend down with use. Probably my biggest disappointment with these is that any side pressure and they twist sideways/slip on the FEL bucket. Any more bolt pressure and the bucket deforms/dimples. Not being able to see the tips of the forks while in normal use because of the FEL bucket is annoying.
The best I could pick up was about 14-16" diameter logs 10-12 feet long before deforming both the forks before reinforcement or the 5 foot FEL bucket. I can't see picking up a 30 inch log..I would think that some part of the equation, either the forks, bucket or hydraulics would break.

Hi there,

The outside dimensions of our forks are 2x4" and the openings on the spreader/stabilizer bar is slightly larger than 2"x4". The bar telescopes from 26" to 50" wide. The ends of the bar have set screws to keep it from sliding. Pallet Fork Attachments | Clamp on Pallet Forks | palletforks.com

If you are doing some serious lifting you can insert chain to the chain holes. Not only will this keep the forks from sliding around but it also spreads the weight to the top as well as the bottom of the bucket.
