hey all, jsut getting ready to get one a 5' maybe a 6 if the tractor will pull it... I've got a 28 HP JINMA tractor 2 stg clutch live pto, it is one heck of a work horse, had FEL on it all time too. been told that they will pull a 6 footer in most conditiones, not sure.? whats you thoughts on the international brnad and the size.?

With your available PTO hp... I'd stick with the 5' unit for optimum performance, both from the cutter and your Jinma...

I like those International units, in fact they have a stronger A-frame assembly and much heftier blade pan holder than KingKutter... the price leader... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I haven't been able to set one side by side, but I ahve touched both, and yes they did have more structural supports and thicker metal. I was/am leaning twards the 5' not only for the better brush clearing ability but also the smaller foot print for mowing paths in the woods. I think i'm sold on the 5' just want to make sure that no one can point out anything major that I should look for before I buy.

I really like my International (7ft). I've cut about 35 acres with it so far in the last couple or so weeks. Really smooth/well balanced. Good bang for the buck. BobG in VA

I have an International 5' that I pull with my Kubota L3130HST. She is only rated at 24 PTO HP and I have no problem with engine power, even in hood tall grass. The International I bought only set me back 475 and that was with a slip disc clutch. My Kubota dealer handled them and gave me a good deal when I got my tractor. The cutter does a great job on weeds and grass and does not flinch when I back it into the thick brush. For the price I have not seen anything as heavy and built for abuse. Both my neigbors have them and the one really uses it to clear heavy brush and it now has seen 7 years of heavy use with no problems. The only complaint I have is the paint and cosmetics of the cutter are not good but after all it is a piece of machinery built to do a job not look pretty. Thought I would attach a pic of my set up. does anyone know what a 5 foot one weighs all i know is on an 8n if you raise the back tire on the brushmower off the ground you can turn the wheels and go strait

I had a 2500 pound JM254, no problem lifting the five foot IMC500. Given that the 8N is over 2700 pounds, I don't see where you'd have a problem.

I would stay with a 5 foot.
Your tractor would probably handle the weight but HP might be a test in thick grass(the worst offender).
A 5 foot model weighs about 540lb.A 6 foot is about 100-150 more.
