My wife and I call the TSC store in our town the "we don't have it store". To often when their flyer says they have sale items we go there and they are all out. For a while they had a sign posted at the service desk advising customers not to yell or cuss at the employees. I expect they got plenty of angry folks who travel in from the country to buy stuff they don't have. I call in advance now and ask them to hold items if they have it at all.

Thats what I do because my time and gas is valuable to me and they are only a few miles away ! and every time I had something held it was there when I got there in an hour or so .

That doesn't always work either. Picked out a new fridge for the garage from Lowe's website this summer. Wife called store to verify that had one in stock. They claimed to have 2. After driving there and waiting and hour and a half, we were informed that 2 people searching the back of the store couldn't find one.
They finally gave up the search and gave me the next model up the line for the same price as the original one we wanted. I guess the computer is only as good as the person keeping track of the information put into it.

I think a lot of stores are pulling this maneuver to get you in the door in hopes of selling you something else to reduce their stock.
Local Sears seems to be famous for this. I arrived at 7 AM one day for an early opening sale to grab a TV that was in the sale flyer. I was the only person in the store at the time. Showed the sales guy the flyer and told him what I came for. Again, the computer showed 2 in stock. This is after a big advertisement of this item, they only stocked 2. In actuality the guy went out back and could only find one. I told him to load it up and I was out of there.

My local TSC will give rain checks for advertised stuff that they run out of. Sounds like service really depends on the workers at the store.

Looks can be deceiving for sure but they should be able to discount or repair the dry rotted hose and rust-maybe 5-7 percent? Flat tires usually just need air am I right? Bought a 5x8 utility tilt trailer from Home Depot in 1999, got 100 bucks discount for a dented side and a little rust so I only paid 500 bucks for it. Repaired the dent with a hammer and c-clamp and repaintyed the whole trailer 7 years later. It has been indispensible in the 13 years I owned it and I can still get at least 500 bucks for it.

a discount should be a given, they aren't like a dealership where they have replacement parts. I have found things marked down as much as 75% because it had a missing 'part"

In general yes however, I have found that the tires used on most of those things dry rot pretty quick. if this was left outside then I would bet that is the case.

Just order it online. Will show up at your door brand new at same price or have it sent to the store. I'm surprised you didn't get a discount. Usually the manager will for stuff that's been outside and weathered.

IMO...the worst thing about TSC stores is the associates but I'm sure there are good and bad at most locations...
I really like that they sell nuts and bolts by the pound rather than the bubble packages found at most other stores...

I bought a small pump up sprayer from them a few years ago... a year later the (cheepish) wand broke...I was in a different (location) store and I asked where their sprayer parts were and the guy told me they only had sprayers no parts...I made a semi-derogatory comment about the quality of sprayer that carried their name (TSC) on it...the guy said to bring it in and they would see what "they could do"...I was a little irked that they did not have any parts and headed to the check out to pay for a few other items I had in my cart...while I was at the register the guy came up front with a new sprayer (different brand) put it in my cart and told the cashier "no charge"...needless to say I was impressed considering I never even showed them a receipt or the defective part etc.

TSC emailed me a bunch of specials, I went to the store the same day. They did not have any of the items, told me they sold out of those a long time ago. I wrote an email to TSC customer service, they wrote back and said "those were limited quantities"
