I'm looking at buying a used box blade and I found this one through CL. It has what looks like a hinged rear blade on the back of the box. At the risk of sounding ignorant I haven't seen one like that before. Does this setup work like a regular box blade?

It is better than a standard box blade. The hige lets it dig deeper. I have a hinged blade and it works much better than a standard fixed one. BTW, that is a good brand Box Blade. What size and what is he asking?

Gannon blades are heavey duty and are hard to find.

What they said, Gannon is a pretty high end bb, our LP HR3584 has that type of back, you can bolt it, to make it work differently, but having the option is a real advantage.

If this is the size boxblade you need it would be a very good choice. Looks to be a 4' width or larger, I would have liked to find this early last year. I would not hesitate too much as these are hard to find used especially in the soutwest. If you let us know the price we can give you a better idea of what to do. I have a larger Frontier boxblade which is made by Woods Gannon and is an industrial model these aren't cheap but do a good job.

Like others have said, that's a good BB.

Like others stated. Thats one good boxblade there if it covers your tire width,is complete and priced fair I"d jump all over that. Gannon one of the top of the line.

Thanks for all the replies!

We are still negotiating but he says his bottom line is $225. It's a 42" box and I'm getting it for my JD 2305 which has a 48" tire track width in the rear. I was looking for a 4' box because I don't think my tractor could pull anything bigger. Do you think being short those 6" will matter?

For that price I'd buy it and try it. If you aren't satisfied ask $400 for it when you sell it.
