Usually you would need a Shop hammer, punch and safety glasses to remove the nut on the clutch. Make sure it does not have a set screw that you need to loosen? Ken Sweet

generally if its not slipping on you in rough use, its bound up and likely not functional. I loosened mine with a chain strap pipe wrench and 6' cheeter bar with my "spud bar" stuck in the hole on the top of the deck to keep the blade from spinning.
