I saw a hydraulic sickle bar on the internet made in Canada, it was a Samuari. It mounted vertically to the front end loader, and trimmed small tree limbs, etc. Has anyone had experience with these? Is this the only brand made? How expensive are they, the website didn't say?

Thanks for the information.

Jack

I saw one, but can't recall the brand name. Guy that referred me to the site said he knew a few people that had them and were pleased. There was a video showing mowing under fences and trimming limbs.

Thanks for all the great information. The Limbinator looked like it would be great for large limbs, but the Samurai should be perfect for my situation. I actually learned that on of my buddies had one, and really liked it. I have one ordered.

Just ordered one today, got several large hedges, fruit trees, etc - it'll probably end up mounted to my hoe bucket most of the time, as some of my hedges have a fence on one side that makes access impractical. This way I should be able to swing the hoe to one side and drive down the hedge (slowly) to get the back side.

Couple of the hedges are 6-8 feet wide - having the hoe articulated should let me make 2-3 passes, each one further out from the tractor til it's done.

My hoe has almost 20' reach, more with the sickle. I have a feeling things are gonna look different once this thing's hooked up... Steve

My wife had asked me several days ago for a Christmas hint. I told her yesterday that I had just ordered my gift from her. It's a win-win. She doesn't have to shop, and I get exactly what I want and need. I'm looking forward to using the Samurai. I'm like Steve - things are going to look different. My problem is, it will be hard to find a stopping place.

I have a Massey Ferguson Dynabalance 41 7' sickle bar mower and I've thought of running it vertically to trim the branches around the edges of my fields. I haven't tried it yet, but I don't see why that wouldn't work. The bar will operate in the vertical (transport) position.

Anybody here tried this?

Bye for now,

Troy
