New Grapple exceeds expectations

That's an awesome looking grapple !! Thanks for sharing the info ... One of these will likely be the first new implement I purchase when my L5740 comes in, sure will save a LOT of backaches...

It's funny, I have both the grapple, and QA forks, and I almost never use the forks. I had them on one time within the last year (probably more).

Interesting, I don't have a grapple and use the forks a lot however would like a grapple for brush. My forks have been very useful I just loaded my lawn tractor on the back of my pick up last week can't see doing that with the grapple, lol. Best wishes though and why not have it all

I like how long the lower tines are, very nice for digging out brush roots. The only possible issue could be on heavy roots but that is where another style/size might work well.

I came across this thread while reaearching grapples for an upcoming purchase and your comment about the different style of grapples caught my eye. ANBO and also the WR Long root rake grapple both have an arc shaped rake, but most of the other brands use an "L" shaped rake (like Piston's in the picture he posted in post #42). What are the advantages and disadvantages of each style?

FWIW I'm looking for a grapple to clean up logging slash including some logs and also large stumps that were dug out with a dozer or excavator by the previous owner so he could food plots.

Over the years I have heard many arguments here on TBN on the two different types of Grapples as well as the proper width. The advantages of the Anbo type style is the ability to back rake from fence lines. It also makes it easy to use some what like a dozer and get under the roots and pop them as you go. I have tore down a 50 foot carport with huge block covered with brick veneer columns. The grapple was so powerful it crushed the first column I picked up. So I was careful on the next one so I could move it in one piece. I piled the crushed wood in a pile and burned it. I can and have carried a lot with mine including from brush, trees, huge rocks,and washer and dryers. It can also pick up things a little as 3 inches. Piston can give you the pros of his style. Which I would think carrying large stacks of boards would be one of them. The claw style can carry things as well by rolling the grapple back. Both are good and depends a lot on the user and his creativity.

I have a rake style similar to Kytractor's in this thread but with not as long of lower teeth. Mine is great for what I bought it for, grubbing and burning brush. But I can't pick up logs very well with it. I can, but I end up re-gripping a few times. Kytractor's Anbo looks like it can pick up logs much better than mine since his lower teeth are longer. The "L" shape lends itself to getting under logs and general debris. If you are going to dig out heavy roots, then narrow is better as the wider you go the more chance of stalling out. So it all depends on what you use it for.
