Replacement post hole auger
Looking to buy a 16" x 48" post hole auger, has the 2" connection. Will be used in a very hard clay soil..no rocks. Any suggestions on brands to look at?

PTO powered 3 point mount or Hydraulic powered FEL mount? I have a Danuser hydraulic 1025H on order. They have PTO driven ones as well.

2" round shank? A 16" auger in tough conditions is asking a lot of that drive connection. What brand of PHD is it?

Re: Replacement post hole auger
I don't think you will break the auger, but the shear pin on the gearbox input shaft where the PTO attaches is gonna take a beating. I think the shearpin in mine is 3/8". It's nowhere nearly as big as the one on my rotary cutter. I would sure not go above a grade 5 bolt for a shearpin. It's easier to sell a working PHD and buy a new one than sell one with a busted gearbox for scrap.

Re: Replacement post hole auger
You'll find a selection of different augers for PTO post hole diggers on our website. The Danuser augers with cast heads are a little pricy but probably some of the most durable augers for 2" round applications on the market.

Check out your local farm store/TSC/rural king. I know both TSC and rural king in my area carry them. (that is if you dont want to pay shipping)
