Some great grapple pics on this thread! I do believe that if the Wicked Grapple was around when I bought my 64" grapple, I would have likely gone with the EA grapple, and been more than satisfied!

Some of you guys should repost here in the "general" grapple thread.... :D

Today was a good day. Finally able to bring home the new addition. This is a 60" Single Lid Wicked Grapple Single Lid Root Grapple on a Mahindra 2538 http://mahindrausa.com/sites/default/files/tractor/pdf/22749 MAH542538 071015.pdf - It is exactly what I was looking for and although I have not worked it hard yet, it has done exactly what I needed it to on its first day. :D

I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces. Thanks Ted and Travis and everyone else at EA!

Wow Snowback, those pics are bada**!! Thanks for sharing!
I'll share a couple on our EA Facebook Page today.
Wicked Grapple pics are always a hit, and, thanks to you guys, I have TONS of them!
Now, go get it dirty and take more. :D

Guys. I got a 50" compact grapple from EA around New Year's Day and have been just kinda screwing around with it.
But yesterday I tackled a patch of briars and overgrown brush on the side of the yard that has bothered me for years. Two hours later it looks like a garden plot! (Pictures to follow. It's dark still this morning here in Oklahoma)
Anyway I noticed something about the grapple.
When arriving the teeth would close all the way touching each other but no force was there that last couple of inches. I could pick up on the lid and it would lift slightly that couple of inches.
After working it yesterday the way it should be worked which involved back dragging, uprooting roots and rocks and picking those up for a couple of hours, the lid now has no slack and the teeth do not close all the way but stay tight with no slack about two-three inches open.
How is everyone else's lid close down? The tines still line up perfectly, there are no tweaks or bends anywhere. I measured the stroke of the lid cylinder which was 4 inches which the sticker says it is supposed to be.
I figure that there must have been still a bit of air in the cylinder that finally got worked out. I'm happy with it but inquiring minds want to know!
Kinda miss being able to knash its teeth while chasing around my neighbors dog with the tractor though!
Oh well...

The initial slack was probably the air as you say. I have three grapples and all close with a "clank". None are EA so I would have to let someone else answer the question about the teeth gap. None of my teeth touch, I can say that.

If the cylinder has a threaded on rod end, fully extend it, pull the pin, the tines should touch.

Then loosen the clamp, unscrew the clevis until it lines up with the hole, tighten the clamp, pit the pin back in.

Let us know the outcome.

I sent lenny a PM and asked him to call me. This is exactly what I was going to recommend.
We have had a couple cylinders on the 50" grapples that have needed adjustment and it has worked.

I can't explain why they close all the way initially and need adjustment after little use, but we have not had any further problematic reports after the adjustment has been done.

1025 John Deere subcompact with a 50" Wicked Grapple.
He's had it for 2 years and says it's the most used attachment that he owns.

Travis

And that's exactly what was going on.
I adjusted the rod end and took her for a spin once more and it works perfectly.
Thanks everyone for the quick advice.
