The WICKED Root & Debris GRAPPLE!!!!!!!

I am having a problem with my new grapple, one clamp does not close all the way. Seems like it did last week, although I could not swear to it.

I called EA this morning and talked to Rick who must have been pretty busy as he did not want to hear what I learned in inspecting it last night. He just said send a picture and they would troubleshoot from the pic.

What I wanted to tell him was that

My guess is that both sides were closing last week (new) but I can't swear to it

Turns out there is no physical interference on lid, when I detach the cylinder from one end it closes fine.

So it's the cylinder itself that is not reaching far enough to close lid.

Would have guessed a wonky cylinder, but an initial measurement of both cylinders shows them to be extending pretty close to the same amount - so not conclusive.

To confuse the issue, upon closer inspection it looks like the upper cylinder bracket on that side was welded on further back than the "good" side. So if the cylinder is at the limit of it's extension it might explain why the lid doesn't close.

Anyone have any thoughts on cause, cylinder or bracket mis welded? I attached some crummy pics that attempt to show the different spacings between the round pin housing and the top cylinder bracket themselves.

As a heads up for new owners , none of the 8 grease fittings had been greased when I got it. The long lid pins took a lot of grease, they must have a hollow leg. But once the grease did start showing it was my red grease...

But I love the thing and wonder how I lived without a grapple.

Sorry to say this but your post looks like an attempt coerce EA to move your customer service issue to the front of the line.

When any of us have problems with brand new equipment don't think we will try to move to back of the line? GH has problems and ETA is providing good customer service.

Sorry you feel that way.

Just looking for ideas and sharing. I'm new to the tractor game and going through my thought process and in fact based on what I figured out, bullet straightened me out immediately on adjusting the cylinder.

And I am often able to sort out issues by reading other's posts about problems/resolutions. It's part of the benefit of a specialized forum for me.

And never a need to coerce EA, I know they will always make it right.

But if that is the way I come across, I'll not share problems/resolutions in the future. Thanks for letting me know.

He's probably talking about the above, and let's admit, that was a bit of a dig. And it looked like it served it's purpose, as we all know EA monitors this stuff pretty closely, and responded quickly. This forum must be a huge benefit to them, and it usually sounds like they handle stuff the right way.

It reads a bit different than I meant it. In reality, Travis later read my email to him from last night with the details and that made it an easy problem for them to suggest a solution.

Didn't mean it as a dig at them, but rather at me wanting to share my information with them so bad.

I'll try harder to spare bandwidth in the future, sorry.

I'll

No problem...and "bandwidth" wasn't what I was speaking of...just that one bolded part (and making the point that I did). I've enjoyed your posts.

Rick

Yours is a Strawman's argument. We don't try to muscle our way in front of others. J F nailed it.

So let's turn this negative. No problem, I'm out of it.

Have fun!

Muscling my way in front? Now I know to turn the end of the cylinder out a quarter inch.....You're a tough crowd.

I've learned alot for the forum and enjoyed reading and posting, but I guess now I'll take a break and spare you the grief.
