Muscling my way in front? Now I know to turn the end of the cylinder out a quarter inch.....You're a tough crowd.

I've learned alot for the forum and enjoyed reading and posting, but I guess now I'll take a break and spare you the grief.

Glad it all worked out!!
I was at the pumpkin patch with my little boy and his preschool, so I didn't get to the office till about 2. Rick was probably just busy at the time.
He paid me back by leaving early to go to a concert, so your video was fitting J F!!

Sorry to say this but your post looks like an attempt coerce EA to move your customer service issue to the front of the line.

We're fortunate to keep an extremely short list of issues, so no coercing necessary!!

Hi, new to hydrolic implements here. Is is normal to see hydrolic fluid residue around the cylinders? I see along the grappling clamps smears of hydrolic fluid running up and down the clamps around the cylinders and along the base. It's not a steady flow so I can't see where the source is coming from. It is under and around both cylinders so I don't know if this is something to be expected or not.. I can take a picture if this will help but it just rained here so most the dirt and possibly fluid is washed away. After seeing that I then had my loader arms only go half way up on the last load of the day. It didn't appear to be a large load, actually I believe I had two or three loads bigger before that so I was wondering if this might be related. I looked all over the tractor looking for an obvious leak or residue along the lines and didn't find any. Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks, Terri

Terri, I think you should check all of the screw fittings on the grapple to make sure that they're tight, including the quick connect couplers. It is odd that your loader arms wouldn't go all the way up, so you should check the hyd. fluid in your tractor....if fluid was leaking for an extended amount of time, you may have lost quite a bit. Let us know what you find.

I don't know what type of connectors you guys use on your grapple cylinders. However, I would be careful about tightening JIC type connectors as they are easy to break with too much tightening force. Wrist tighten at most works for me. I split one when putting my whole arm into tightening. I think the JIC type connectors are made of different gauge or softer metal than SAE connectors and neither require nor tolerate as much torque when tightening.

Good advice!
We use pipe thread fittings, so tightening shouldn't cause any problems.....still, it doesn't require crazy torquing.

:welcome: to TractorByNet!

I suggest that you take some pictures and post your question in the Hydraulics Forum.

Can you clean up the leak and then inspect while someone else holds the pressure on? (With certain valves, you don't want to hold them open for too long at a time.)

Don't blindly feel around for hydraulic leaks while someone else holds the pressure on. Don't. Don't. Don't.

If you know why I said that, then feel free to "inspect" as jmc said above, being careful and wise and not interpreting "inspect" as "blindly feel around."

Sorry if I've missed target with this warning message, but it ought to be said.
