Okay, I'll try one of these and put it right before the flat face coupler?

Yep, on the hose that goes to the extend port of the lid cylinder.

That's what I had on mine. If you have to use it when it's cold out and the fluid thickens, you may remove it because your grapple will operate very slowly

I do like how your third function operates. Opening and closing is a smooth motion, mine opens and closes almost instantly...

Anyone have an opinion on my plan below. I would appreciate your input before I order my hoses Thanks in advance

I have a Kubota factory installed third function valve. With 1/2 hose feed to my flat face coupling sat the loader bulkhead.

I would think if I use 1/4 hose I should have a bit less flow, than if I use 3/8 hose & would have a bit more control as to how fast the lids open and close.

My Grapple came plumbed with 1/4 hose from the 2 lids and I need to provide hose from 2 tees at the back of grapple to my loader flat faced couplings. Which will be about 60 inches of 1/4 inch hose.

Perhaps with my dual lids Since there is 2 hyd clyinders though they are small not much volume appear to be 2 or 2.5 diameter the lids may operate slow enough for me. Without having to install a restricter inline

I used 3/8 hose to run my dual lid Wicked from a rear remote. The lids take about two seconds to open or close. If anything they're a little bit slower than would be ideal for me. I have yet to feel like I need to feather the valve- I hold it down until the lids stop moving.

That’s why the adjustable valves are worth the extra cost.

Case, I think you’ll be disappointed with 1/4” hose, Grapple will probably be very slow. I have 3/8” on mine and open / close is very acceptable. Mine is WR Long 3rd function.

Rick,Thanks for the reply. What size Line and or hose from your 3rd function to the bulkhead on your loader frame ? Is your entire grapple plumbed from your connectors to your lid Clyinders with 3/8 inch or is it with 1/4 inch hose. Thanks Bill

I have a new L4701DT with dealer-installed WR Long 3rd function and EA 66" dual-lid Wicked Grapple (see attached 5 pics)... The tractor has 1/2' feed and 3/8" distribution hydraulic lines and my grapple came fitted with 3/8" lines... But the WR Long 3rd function was installed/plumbed with 1/4" lines... It is my understanding "...the WR Long 3rd function valve came as a kit [to the dealer] with 1/4" lines..." and I questioned this but after 50 hours of grapple-operation I am very satisfied with the speed of the dual lids... I notice that I can easily control the speed and hence the strength of the lids and this is ESPECIALLY USEFUL when handling brush that is smaller/old/dry so that I don't crush it and have it break/fall-apart... The lids close at a medium speed allowing me to control the rate/strength while simultaneously curl the bucket in order to maximize my grab/load... If the lids were any faster I think it would be much more difficult to control/coordinate an EFFECIENT/EFFECTIVE/MAXIMUM pick... Don't be afraid to try the 1/4"...NewTractorPoleBarn (1).JPGNewTractorPoleBarn (4).JPGNewTractorPoleBarn (5).JPGNewTractorPoleBarn (6).JPGNewTractorPoleBarn (7).JPG

BTW, I would definitely NOT describe the lid closure a 'slow' with the 1/4" hoses... Moderate/medium/controllable/respectable/etc. perhaps but NOT slow and certainly not 'very slow' as some have pontificated/predicted... Again, I am very happy with the speed and I would be willing to try the 3/4" hoses but no need... All I am saying is that I have/use the 1/4" and they work fine if not desirable... I was pleasantly surprised... Try them for yourself... Good luck...

Mine is all 3/8” hose and my EA Wicked Grapple for Utility Tractors is single lid / single cylinder Bill.

The WR Long on my 100HP New Holland has 1/2” feed but rest of hose, including my 84” HD grapple is 3/8” which was my decision.

Both grapples open / close very smoothly.
