I want to seperate 3 pt and power steering hydraulics from front end loader and mount hydraulic pump to front crank of tractor. I have already purchased 10 gal. tank need to know how to go about getting a pump to mount to front crank.

I'd first check with the parts manual or call Case/IH and see if there was a "kit" to do this. That would be the a starting point. A kit would be the most elegant solution but if you want to fabricate one you can use the diagrams to effect a home built solution.

It's common on large gear tractors that municipalities own and equip with side boom flail and rotary mowers. I haven't seen it on a smaller tractor. What problems are you trying to solve, and would a rear PTO mount hydraulic pump solve them.

Deere had a front mount hydraulic pump for many years, I would look at a few of them. My 820 has a front omount gear pump as did all of the older New Generation tractors. I agree to check the parts manual first as it may be available already.

Went to Case/IH and came up with these part numbers for an optional front pto drive pump for a 424. Shows part numbers for gas and diesel.

PUMP ASSY, front PTO driven, optional with 383513R92, gasoline engine tractors order flange & shaft, 388164R1, hub, 488161R91 & pump, 383514R92, diesel engine tractors order flange & shaft, 388166R1, hub, 488161R91 & pump, 383514R92
Product No: 378872R91

There were 4 pumps available at one time, but just shows two, as far as getting parts now. I copied and pasted the flange and shaft number to IH parts at Messicks, and it came back as a bearing retainer. Ran the one for the hub, and showed a shaft flex coupling. Price was like $308.00.

If it is an aftermarket brand loader, you may try contacting the manufacturer, or a dealer that sells them, if they are still made. Many had front mount pump kits available.

My old L model kubota was set up this way. White field boss used a PTO hyd. pump to run the front loader.Try a tractor salvage yard and see what is out there. Make sure to tell where you are going to use pump so mounting and rotation is correct. This site has alot of smart people on here and they can guide you to the results you want.

Hi all, Sorry for the Threadjack, but this seems most relevant to what I am dealing with. Any Help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at a superior loader for my 53 fordson new major. I could run a PTO pump but would rather run it off the front if possible so it would be "live." Any thoughts, proven setups or pictures? I have the hand crank starter shaft on the front of that tractor now.

Pretty straight forward actually, you have to know the GPM required for the application then get a pump that develops that GPM at the max RPM of the tractor and turns the correct direction. Fab a mount for the pump once you decide on a drive system, the drive system can be as simple as lovejoy couplers or as complex as a driveshaft and yolks. Then plumb it up. The trick is building the drive system and mount. CJ

The Superior Loader came with a front mount/crank powered pump. You need to make sure you get ALL of the parts necessary to mount and run the loader. That would include the front brush guard which is the mounting point for the pump. The brush guard is an integral part of the frame as it keeps the front rails from torquing. You should also get the crank drive hardware.

The Superior is a great loader for your Fordson. I love mine:thumbsup:

From the research I did, it seemed to me it was a nice choice for the major ( Aside from having to remove the belt pulley and headlights potentially.) Im going to look at it tomorrow. The guys on the phone said its nice and the pump is with it. I have my doubts about the crank drive parts unfortunately. He was planning on putting it on an 8n. Some of that Im sure I can fab up if I have to. Ill update when I found out. Whirly, does your power major have power steering or not? Thats my only other concern. I dont really need the loader, but the tractor is simply a toy anyhow, as any real loader work gets my New Holland Skid steer.
