High air intake attachment for Kubota 900 UTV

I have seen a number of posts in past years on Kubota's elevated intake. They want $250 or more for this simple piece of pipe. I could easily build a system to get the air intake out of the dust/dirt cloud kicked up by the front right wheel (a super stupid design in the first place), but I want to be sure that there is no technical reason not to do so. I need to be sure plenty of air gets to the engine.

Does anyone out there have any experience with DYI air intakes for this Kubota?

I think what you want is a snorkel. If you use the same diameter hose as what the factory air box does you should be fine. This place here may have some components to help you on your build. Intake Hoses, IntakeTubing, and Intake Clamps
