Kioti Dk45SE Sold Kubota BX 2200 Sold Kubota B 3200 Loader WR Long 4 in 1
I have been reading and learning from this sight for years. I just finished this build and thought it may help other members who may be thinking of building the same thing. I have about $ 350.00 in it and more time than I care to think about. I built it for some property I own that has a 1 ac. pond with dam and other areas that require weed eating on a regular basis. sickle mower paint 003.jpgsickle mower paint 006.jpgsickle mower paint 007.jpgsickle mower paint 008.jpg

Any idea what kind of flow volume the hydraulic motor will need? Just curious.

I am not sure Kioti says 16.8 GPM. Just a touch above idle seems to be the sweet spot for it. I tested it before paint and new teeth just to see if it was worth finishing. It worked so well that I put all new teeth and repaired hold down clamps. I took it to a neighbors field yesterday and was very happy with it. Anything under 1 1/4 it goes right through. I cut a larger tree but had to ease into it. One disadvantage is anytime you move joy stick the sickle motor slows in response. So there is a learning curb with running it. Also I tested on some trees at my house works great goes up about 15 feet. Sure beats a pole saw.

Now that thing looks slicker than snot on a doorknob:) If you need your investment money back let me know:D That is the coolest project I have seen in a while!

Looks like it would work horizontally, vertically and any angle in between. I could use it to trim the arbor vitae evergreens, sides and top.:)

I would love to see a video of that thing working. That is very neat!

Very nice. Who made (or still makes) that hydraulic sickle bar? I just picked up a used boom hydraulic flail mower that I would like to have the ability to swap out the flail head with a sickle head for careful under fence mowing. I think I would put a bar above and slightly in front of the sickle in case I hit a fence post. Also, how much does the sickle with motor weigh?

Awesome project and exactly what I'm trying to figure out. I have 10 acres of grapevines that we hedge several times a year and I can't see spending the small fortune they want for a commercial hedger. I would love to know what kind of hydraulic sickle bar you started with. If anyone else on this site has any ideas/plans for a hydraulic x and y axis carriage I would love to hear about that too. I'm probably looking to mount the rig on the front of a tractor verses the back.
