Grapple connection problem

My 3/8 lines and coupling arrived last week. Yesterday I ran them underneath the tractor and the followed the loader arms to the front. I then installed the skid steer type coupling on the front for the grapple. I then put the ag couplings on (Dixon QC ag4f4). I couldn't get the. Kipling to seat into the female ends coming from my rear remotes (2011 ck35 hst). They go in almost all the way but not enough for the outer female end to lock it on. I don't believe their was any pressure on it. From what I've read I thought the ag coupling were pretty uniform.

I went through a similar problem. The 3/8" couplers on the rear remotes that I had installed on our Kubota L3800 did not match with the front remotes that were installed by the dealer with our W. R. Long 4N1 bucket. I discovered this when I bought a grapple for use on the FEL. I had the skid-streer hyrdaulic couplers removed from the grapple (reduced the price by $50). I knew the skid-steer couplers on the grapple would not work. My plan was to install on the grapple some spare couplers I had bought for use with the rear-end 3/8" remote outlets. They wouldn't work. I learned that the ISO specs were different for the two sets of couplers, even though they were both 3/8". I had to solve the problem by buying for use with the grapler couplers that were the same as those that came with the 4N1 bucket, which of course matched what the dealer had installed on the FEL to mate with the 4N1 bucket. To make sure that I got what would match with the 4N1 couplers, I had my Kubota order the additional couplers from W. R. Long, the grapple manufacturer, and I asked the dealer to make sure that what W. R. Long furnished would match what W. R. Long had furnished with the 4N1 bucket. The new couplers I got from Long did match, but they were a different manufacturer from those that were installed with the 4N1 bucket. And they definitely do not match the 3/8" outlets that were installed by the dealer on the rear. If this is not clear, send me a private message and I'll send you more info.

Are you sure that your rear remotes are not 1/2" ag couplers which is a widely used standard. I can see a 1/2 on the cover. You are probably right but I just thought I would ask.

Edit: The hose size and connector size do not have to be the same, 1/2" couplers are often used on 3/8" hoses so that the connector does not offer a flow restriction because couplers have a smaller ID than hoses.

Liledgy, I really can't help you with the coupling questions you have but I do have a suggestion. In your first picture you show two male couplings. My suggestion is to have one female and one male so that when you hook up any attachments you don't have to worry about which line goes to which coupling. See the attached picture.

Dj, I think I understand, I'll may have to go to the kioti dealer to get the same type of coupler to match up with my rear remotes.
Gordon, I wasn't to clear. My hoses are 3/8" with 1/2" couplers to match the grapple (SS couplings that worked fine) and 1/2" ag. Type male couplings for the rear remotes. I may drive down to my property and try to install them again, maybe push the center in with a screw driver, etc.

I am doing you more harm than good here, I just looked and a Dixon ag4f4 is a 1/2" coupler.

Srs, thanks for the reply. For the grapple attachment end, I did order 1 male and 1 female coupling to match what came with the grapple. At the rear of the tractor I ordered 2, 1/2" male couplings because the rear remotes came with female ends on them.

That's what I did for my couplings on the front, it saves a lot of confusion, and they are always hooked up correctly.

Hey Gordon, I appreciate you even going so far to look it up. I can't find anything on kioti's website that specifys what type of coupling they use on their remotes. I may ask this question on the kioti or hydraulic forum.

Hydraulic fittings are confusing - there are many types. QCs are no different as can be seen here:

I would think you would have ag type on your remotes but you are smart to double check.
Your tractor was off and you worked the valves both ways after you shut down to relieve pressure, right?
