Lube Your Shaft - It's Fun and It's Easy
In less than 10 minutes you can drill out the hole(s) tap some threads and install the zerk fittings.
This is the rear blade for my tractor.
I decided to lubricate the pivot for the rear blade and the cylinder clevis pins.
I drill a 1/16" pilot hole and then a #3 drill deep enough to tap with a 1/4"-28 tap.
The cylinder clevis pin received a grease channel all the way around the pin.
The grinder was held in the vise by the grinder handle and I rotated the pin cutting a groove.
It just that easy.

Re: Lube Your Shaft - It's Fun and It's Easy
If you just drill it to 15/64 you can just thread in the zert no need to cut the threads unless it is a hardened material.
Grease the very best thing you can do for any machine.
Before I start any machine, I repeat oil, air, water, PS fluid, and turning devices if you have been working on it. The PS fluid includes all the hydraulic oils, transmission fluids gear oils, and did I grease it.
Just a mental exercise to be sure I did not forget something.

Interesting. I just got a new back blade and noticed that it has no Zerk, I'll have to add one!

This sounds like a fun project by the fire on a frigid weekend sometime.

It looks like the pin that holds the blade in position.

Looks good to me. A little grease never hurt anything.
