Gents, I am being offered the following items for purchase and would like to know if the prices are indeed as reasonable as he is making them out to be.

1) Auger/post hole digger- Woods 1190 with a 12" auger bit and tip for $200.
2) Woods 84 bushhog/mower 7 foot for $500.

Your guidance will be appreciated.

Those are, frankly, suspiciously low prices. Caveat emptor!

what location? those are the prices I payed for implements in fair condition off of craigslist.

I dont see how anyone can say thats an overly low price when you havnt seen the condition of the equipment!

Check the gear boxes for oil rather than grease. If the seller has a tractor available test run them. Pto shaft is expensive so make sure the price includes this. Price is about right for a cold Saturday auction. Do not think to long as someone is always looking for this three point stuff. Spring time will add another100.00 to auger and 300.00 to mower. And a quick sale would be the result for both items.

These are located in north Alabama and are personal implements of someone I know. I was simply verifying this was as good a deal as he said it was, for me. I will for sure check their condition and functionality before I purchase.

Thank you!

I usually see post-hole diggers with auger in the $500-700 price range used. I usually see 5' bush-hogs in fair condition in the $300-400 price range. 7' bush-hogs are usually up around $1000, and they are much-less-often available. Of course this all depends on condition. My suspicion would come from the fact that, with prices so far below what I would consider typical, the condition of the items might also be below-average. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy them, just that I would be very careful to know about the condition before I did so.

I will inspect/test run, and buy only if they are in solid, operable condition. Thank you for your advice.
