Rear Blade What size rear blade for my John Deere 1026?

I have a 1026R also. I bought the 2060L Frontier back blade. For snow I like it because it is lighter and does not dig into the gravel as easy although skid shoes would help prevent that with a heavier blade. For dirt work it is a little too light and I'm thinking of how to add weights to it; although I have a box blade now for scraping. I bought it before I ever worked with a 3PH at all so I didn't know what to look for. In retrospect, I would have gone a little heavier and with the tilt and swing features. It would be nice to off set it to the side for winging off the driveway a little more and the tilt just because!

Ok guys another dumb question, got my RB1560 today and got it hooked up but it only lifts like 4" off the ground, what am I doing wrong? I looked and the top pin suppose to go in the lower hole on the blade for my quick hitch. Just can't figure out why it is not lifting it any higher?

Do you have your toplink extended a lot?

It may also be all the higher it will lift since you have a limited Cat1 3 point hitch.

Shorten the Top link and use the top hole on 3 point

I shortened the top link and now it raises it prolly 10" off the ground. I am still learning I am just glad everyone has patience for me. I know most people this was a dumb question but for me, not knowing anything about tractors was not a dumb question. Now if I could just decide how to trailer my 1026. I think I might use chains on the rear, seen people hook them up then just pull the tractor till its tight, then use ratchet straps on the front. I am thinking 2" straps. I don't know why seems like all I can find are the 27' straps I don't need anything that long!

The shorter the toplink is the less it will cut with the blade in the foward postion, the longer it is the more it will cut. For general work I run the blade so the main tube on the frame of the blade sitting level and adjust from there. It is trial and error.

Be careful with straps. If you pull them over a sharp edge it will cut them. There are axle straps you can get that may be nice for your application. Check with Summit Racing or Etrailer. Here is a example of a axle strap.

Do you have any holes in the frame close to the front of your tractor? You could do something like this.

We got bout 9" of snow here in Missouri and I tried out my John Deere with my RB1560 did a fine job! But sometimes I had to lower my front bucket to scrap off some before I bladed.
