Backhoe advice needed

I have been looking for a backhoe attachment for my 2007 John Deere 3320 for a while and found this available locally. It is a Case D100 that has been modified to be self contained and fit on a John Deere 790. First of all what do you guys think of the D100, how is it to control with 2 way valves instead of the new 4 way? Anybody know the specs, digging depth, breakout force, etc. I searched but didn't have any luck. My use would be around the property, leveling a pad here and there, trenching, drain work etc. He is asking $3500.00 Thanks for the advice. I wouldn't do it. Making the subframe adapt will be a challenge and PTO pumps are not the way to go. I am not of fan of trying to make things work on something they weren't intended or designed for to begin with.

I have a D100 on my Kubota B2710. Its a little big for the tractor, I have to put about 300 lbs on the front. It works great. I dont mind the valve setup, after awile I dont even have to think about it. I like the PTO pump setup, I can run the backhoe at 1800 rpm which is nice, I would have to run it at full speed to get the same gpm out of the onboard pump. I think the digging depth is 100 inchs or about 8 ft. The price seems a little high if you still need to make a subframe to fit your tractor, but he did paint it green so maybe it is priced correctly. :D

Looks like a hoe I bought 15 yrs ago- had been made for Bobcat skid steer loader- had quick change mount, painted white, straight down stabilizers (this one looks just like it). Made a frame to attach to back of Massey 65. Mine digs about 6' deep. Going to put it behind my New Holland 1510 and try using tractor hydraulics. Okay little hoe. In the process of rebuilding the cylinders right now. Can't say what value is worth. With new costing $8k this could be okay…

Looks like mine as well, Davis D100A , that I have about $2k ? ( trade with some cash), no seat,resevoir or pump. I'm going to mount to my 8N ,3PT will lift it so hopfully will work with frame mount.My only problem is not sure of pump size needed.

My MF65 ran 12-15 gpm pump off the front of the engine- quit enough for the hoe. New Holland runs half that so I'm curious to see the difference in operation. While replacing hoses I noticed there is a restrictor in the boom line (at the spool valve) to keep pressure upstream for simultaneous operations of controls.

Thanks for all of the input. I did like the idea of the aux hydraulic pump only running the tractor at about 1500 rpm, better then winding out at 2500. After getting more info from the seller, the subframe would need some heavy modification to work on my tractor. Not that it couldn't be done but it just adds more cost. Your right though the color makes it more desirable. :thumbsup: I think for the work I need to do I would have to get it down the the 2500 range to be worthwile. I will keep you posted.

as long as ya keep thinking sub frame, you should be ok, it is when you do not have a sub frame, you could do more damage to your tractor.

GPM for hyd oil. does not matter if it comes from tractor or PTO pump. faster GPM means HOE will move quicker.

hyd pressure on other hand could be critical. hyd pressure from tractor, vs hyd pressure coming from a PTO hyd pump. could make a large difference in how much force backhoe produces.

till ya find something look up in phone book and call places up to 2 hours away, and ask how much rental is for mini excavators, or units with backhoes. and just wait till ya have enough jobs, and time to dump in 2 to 3 days of work. and rent.
