Countyline tiller
Well we were at TSC today and I went out in the yard to look at the tillers. They had a 60in tiller that had been returned and it was laying there with the torque tube unbolted on one side. I called the mgr over and he told me it was his 4th day. He told me he could let it go for 750.00 but I said who knows what's wrong with it... He then dropped the price to 500.00 so I bought it.
The tines have a little dirt on them but all still have the black paint on them. So I will go over it tomorrow and see what's wrong with it, if anything...

Re: Countyline tiller
If it is in decent shape and doesn´t require a lot of fix up expense, that could the buy of the month.

Re: Countyline tiller
So I got to work on the tiller today. Rebolted the torque tube. I checked both gearboxes and they both had gearlube in them to the proper levels.
I can turn everything by hand from the PTO shaft. The only thing I can see is the end bearining didn't appear to have grease in it. So the previous owner my have run that bearing dry.
I loaded it up with grease and everything looks to be in good shape.
So I think it possible that someone with a smallish size machine may have bought too much tiller. I think they got a rock hung up and wedged in and unbloted the torque tube to remove it.... Then decided it was to big for the machine.... I'm guessing but this tiller has not been run much. as you can see from the pics the paint is still on the tines...

Re: Countyline tiller
It looks like you got a really good deal. These tillers are really tough. The only thing I dont like about mine is the paint. Yours looks better than some of the brand new ones that I have seen in the Tractor Supply parking lots.

Re: Countyline tiller
I have the same tiller.Only problem I see so far is the bolts that attach the gearbox to the frame loosen up quite a bit.I put locktite on them and have had no problems since

Re: Countyline tiller
Well I put it on the back of the tractor today and ran it for a while... Runs smooth as silk.... I couldn't do any ground engagement as it's frozen here.... But I think I get the brass ring for deal of the week....
thanks,
Chris
