Backhoe Power beyond or PTO pump?????????

Hey yall I bought the New Holland 3 point backhoe. It came mounted to a TC 40 Frame,. What is better/easier- use? a PTO pump? or install power beyond? I like the looks of the power beyond. My tractor is a 4400 JD. I will try and adapt the TC 40 frame to use it if I can.

If you don't use the tractor's hydraulics, there would be more to it than just adding a PTO pump. You would have to add a reservoir of at least a gallon per GPM of pump. Then you should filter the fluid so you add that. Then if you are adding the reservoir you should have it attached to the backhoe so that when you detach it all stays with the hoe and you just need to disconnect the pump at the PTO. Mounting all this means you could compromise the movement of one of your backhoe functions if you don't have room.

As far as attachment style a frame mount is much preferred over a 3 pt in my book. It makes a much more solid connection when you dig and you need that to dig effectively.

There is guy named JJ that is the resident hydraulics expert. He is really knowledgeable. I hope he chimes in. I see you have a little over 6 GPM on your pump, how much does the hoe require?

I operate a Rhino 75 on a sub-frame using PB for power. It is an easy and clean setup. QC fittings to attach to the PB, and then get a "jumper" hose (see attached pic) when the BH is not attached. (I have since removed that PB fitting and now it is in a Kubota OEM casting sitting in a stack on top of the other two QC castings.)

I would try to plan out what my future uses might be. If you did go with a PTO powered pump you could opt not mount it to the backhoe so it could be used with several different attachments. You could get twice the flow over PB. That kind of flow would make for a quick log splitter or maybe a large bucket mount auger. Of course the tank would need to be about 30 gallons which would be pretty large.

I would recommend bringing the PB to the rear like in the picture above for the BH, log splitter, etc.

Do you also have remotes?
