I have a 3 point bale spear but need a quick attach FEL bale spear. Is there any preference to the two large spikes vs 1 large spike and 2 smaller ones? Thanks

Will you be handling round bales, or square? Multi-prong spears give you a bit more controlof the bales. Not too much of an issue unless you are dealing with the large square bales.

The bales I get are pretty darn heavy. I don't exactly know how much they weigh but they probably fall in the large bale category.

I use a two spear, my dad a single. Doesn't seem to make much difference one way or another. We have 4x5 round bales.

I wouldn't use one with just a single spear as the bale is susceptible to moving and just a little swing might be enough to get you in trouble. Get a spear with a single long center spear and 2 short ones that go into the bottom part of the bale to keep it stable. My brother in law bought a used 3 point hitch one and never used it, instead bought one of the bolt on the FEL bucket which put a lot of strain on the bucket AND decreased his lift capacity to marginal to pick up the larger round bales. I encouraged him to buy the Everything Attachments QA plate adapter for I think $149 including tax and shipping and I modified the 3 point hitch one to weld onto the QA plate. Now he can move those large bales with ease even double stack them with his Boomer 2030 NH tractor.

I would get the two,it will also fit perfect for pallets. I have unloaded a ton of feed with mine several time..
I have one of each and prefer the two spears,I can even grab two 4x5 bales at a time on front...

i would go with the quicktatch hay forks insted of the quicktatch spear.both of our 4x4 tractors have quicktatch hay forks an rear 3pt spears.

I don't even own pallet forks because the double spear works so well. I've even picked up three bales, two on the bottom with one in the middle up top.

We sell many more single bale spears with two small lower spears to keep the bale from shifting however the double big spear idea for pallets makes it a more versatile tool. We have a wide variety of bale spears on our site that ship free to a business or supporting freight terminal within 1,000 miles of Newton, NC.

I had bought the pallet forks already but use the double hay spear just like them, not worth changing out.. I do use a single spear on 3point,I can get net.wrap off easier, than having to drop and turn around pick up with loader, may get a hay un-roller this year and do away with the hay ring mess.
