Brandi, It's not just the HP, you need some traction also. To handle your disk without problems, I would say 14-16k pounds with 100hp. The 100hp Mahindra ain't gonna cut it.
Honestly, as soon as I realized that the 100hp model was not a bigger 8560, I lost about all interest. :(

I undestand about the traction. What.........the 100hp model won't be bigger than a 8560, as in heavier also? That sucks. Oh well, I know where a New Holland Versatile is and soon it will be on the market. I am sure the owners will let me borrow it to try it out. They pull a 24 foot disc with it.

A new Amco 8 foot 3 inch offset disc (F42 Heavy Duty) is $15,945 plus options.:eek: A new Amco 9 foot offset disc (F42 Heavy Duty) is $ 16,402.:eek::eek: I made out like a bandit.:D For the difference in new offset disc and what I paid............I can buy a good used pulling tractor.:cool:

My concern was my 6520 pulling it, also. The guys that sold me my 6520........and that ran a Mahindra 7520 haying and discing, told me my 6520 would pull it and that if it got to hard pulling, to just raise it up with the transport wheels. I bought a 13-ft wide Minneapolis Moline KS1300 tandem wheel disc (made by Krause) from Dave at DavesTractor (my Mahindra dealer) a few years ago. $600 including delivery by Dave and one of his guys. To handle it with my 5525, I cut it down to about 8-ft wide. Works fine in dry soil when I get the hayfield plowed in late September (after 3+ months of summer heat to bake out the soil). Like you, I use the transport wheels to adjust the depth.

I have heard Krause products are very durable. How hard was it to cut down to 8 feet?

I plan on having fun with it. Thanks! I could have bid on a 12 foot Tuffline disc, but it had at least two gangs needing new bearing and maybe axle shafts and it was all rusted up. My Amco, you can spin all four gangs and the first gang is still spinning when I get around to spin the last gang.

Not very difficult job. Bought one of those Harbor Freight portable band saws and used Milwaukee blades. Cut through that square tubing like butter.

Portable Band Saw with Variable Speed

I shortened the axles and drilled a hole in the ends for a big cotter pins to hold the disc-spacer assemblies on the axles.

I just look at the TYM specs. I know that they are not the same, but close enough to get an idea. I hope to see the actual tractor at the Tulare World AG Expo this week. :cool: I'll be sure to get pics if it's there. ;)

I have seen these saws in action. They are slick. It could be harder to cut this disc down. It is all 1/2 inch thick angle that is 4x4. Of course, I don't wanna chop on it. I'd get a bigger tractor before putting a saw or gas ax to this heavy weight.

I have heard the Mahindra 100hp tractor will be better than the TYM. Hopefully it will be way heavier.
