Default My uncle gave me a disk plow!

My dad lost a leg in the Korean war, but he still farmed in addition to having a day job. His brothers are both quite mechanically inclined and because of his handicap were always very good to him about fixing stuff and loaning him things. He passed away a couple of years ago so I finally hauled some of the loaner stuff back to the brother it came from. After we unloaded my trailer he said "Here, I've got something for you" and he loaded up this disk plow.

I don't know anything about disk plows, so I would be grateful for any info. I know it's going to be quite a feat to put this heavy iron monster on the hitch all by myself, especially since the foot of the stand has rusted off.

That one is a beast! Looks every bit of 500 lbs, how much tractor do you have?? I would fabricate a new kick stand before doing anything else with it. It looks like it's missing the scrapers too, but when it's free you can't complain, right? Hope you get good use out of it!
Nothing could be finer than riding my JD790 in South Carolina!!

2001 John Deere 790 4x4 with Model 70 FEL, 5ft International World Agritech bush hog, 5ft Wallberg BB, 5ft Frontier disc harrow, 5ft King Kutter II Rototiller, 5ft Cultipacker, 5ft Sitrex finish mower, Leinbach PHD with 9" & 12" augers, Leinbach middlebuster, Leinbach #11 Field Cultivator, boom pole, custom 3pt handi-hitch, clamp on bucket forks, Pat's Easy Change.

Nothing runs like a Deere, or smells like a John....

I think I found similar plows online a long time ago. They are used for creating fire breaks and ditching.

Might just be. They certainly look similar.

My tractor is a MF 245 and the soil here is heavy clay.I don't know if that's a good or bad combination.
