Need help with pricing Ford/Dearborn plow and 6 ft newer disc please.

My neighbor is in serious health decline and wants me to help him sell the two items pictured. I have an idea on the plow but not on the discs. The Ford/Dearborn plow is 14" x 2 and is pretty good and little used condition. The moldboards would scour easily and have only surface rust. I have seen these auction for the $125 and maybe $150 area. I might be interested in those myself. There are coulters with it but the tail wheel is bent and needs to be fixed. No paint left but it might have been red?

The disc is an L&S 6' wide with 20" notched discs and almost no use. The blades are a little rusty but look new. I have no idea on the value of this but it looks to be well-made and something that should sell well.

Can someone help with the pricing on this and maybe both "wholesale" and "retail" numbers? He really needs to sell now but I could put the disc by the road and a little higher price. Any advice welcome.

that dearborn plow should sell between 200 and 300$ as it is I have bought them in bad condition for 190$.. they don't get much cheaper unless the coulters are gon and the tips bad..e tc.

I'd think that one will sell for 250.

the disc? if the bearings are good.. I'd estimate 350-450$

again.. those are the prices I typically see locally and at auctions / private sales.. etc.

local availability of equipment and regional differences will effect price.

hit your local classifieds, for sales and auction sites and lookup similar equipment. iron planet..e tc... craigslist.. ebay..

I agree that the prices will vary regionally. In New England, that plow will bring $400-$500, possibly more.

Too bad you weren't close. I would like a plow and disc. Like nspec said, in New England they go for a lot more than other places. Not sure if it's because there isn't a lot of them around or if there's lots of people wanting to buy them.

Maybe I should bring a load of plows to Maine or Vermont since around here those two bottom plows bring $125 to $150 at farm sales. Around here with our compactable clay and ginormous farms there is near zero desire for the moldboard plow in any configuration. Even the big and fairly modern 4,5,6 or more bottoms brings hardly anything at sales. Maybe $350 to $550.

Last year I bought a 4 bottom JD plow with $1250 worth of new JD everything wear parts for $650 and almost lost money getting rid of it. The plow creates compaction while the chisel plow breaks it is the reasoning.

I'm thinking $200 for the plow, maybe more depending on spare parts availability and the right buyer. The disc would easily sell for $1000 here, to buy it new would set you back the best part of $2000.. I've been looking recently.

Most everything I see falls into three groups. The first is people asking a reasonable amount, $200 or so for a decent single bottom plow that looks like the one you have in your picture. They sell immediately on Craig list. It your quick you can jump on the reasonable priced plows but they are usually gone in 24 hours. The second type is the one where the person who buys the first type has taken a rattle can to it and is now asking up to $400 for the same plow. The third is also in the $400 range but it's a plow in very good shape.

Last spring I saw a 2 bottom Dearborn in great shape with a spare set of shares still in the box for $600. It still had most of it's original paint. I don't know much about plows but in the spring I would think you could sell as many single bottom plows as you could fit into a truck that are in good shape for $250 to $300 pretty easily. They usually come up for sale in the spring so I'm not sure if a plow will sell better or worse in mid summer. Also there's usually at least one person looking to buy a plow in good shape.

My 2-bottom MF plow is hard to find parts for, so it's not as attractive as the Fords and Dearborns are. I think I paid about $200 for it, and it needed a fair bit of work to get it back into good shape. I'd like to find a source of parts, like shares/points.

DEARBORN on the plow sells them because most are bought by the guy who has a N tractor and wants to put in a garden. 250-300 is what I sell them for. The disk is for the guy that plows his new garden and then realizes that it is to ruff to do anything with. 400 to 500 depending on the name and the use it has seen. I pick this stuff up at auctions because I am there anyways. Making a 100 for hauling it home is not bad. Set it out on the drive and it usually finds a new home this time of year.
