Default FERGUSON " YARDMAKER " OVERSEEDER - Anyone With Experience?

Has anyone used a Ferguson Yardmaker overseeder?

Either LIFT or TOWED model? Can you interrupt flow on TOWED model from tractor seat?

Do you use one bin for seed and the second bin for fertilizer? Does the chain drive "stir" the bin contents?

Would Yardmaker handle a mixture of seed sizes in a plot mix/wildflower mix or does the seed have to be uniform in size?

I am window shopping Yardmaker for overseeding wildlife food plots, overseeding Florida Saint Augustine lawns with Annual Rye and overseeding wildflower plots in community right-of-way.

Made in Suffolk, Virginia, USA and an old-line implement company.

Is there another brand of similar equipment I should consider?

From the pictures I would guess no on the shutoff from seat. Spike type aerators supposedly cause more soil compaction than the core type. Not sure if that would be an issue in sand though, what you have in Florida. It would be an issue here with our clay soil.

I would email or call the manufacturer. Better to get the answer from the horse's mouth so to speak.

You can raise it or stop to stop flow of seeds/fertilezer. It has a lever to adjust flow and I guess a wire/string could be attached to the lever and pull it if you don't want to stop then lift roller. It's to light weight to do much compacting unless it's filled with water. It lightly presses seed into the ground as it rolls over it.
The bin on top is two lids but inside is one big bin and there is a stirrer the full length of the bin that turns by the chain drive on the drum.
It's a great piece of equipment but I don't fertilize and my yard is all grass and weeds now so I don't use it. My brother used it more than me but his grass is also doing great and I won't let him use it for fertilizing.
