Well, I needed a bigger brush hog, and finish mower, so I hit the first farm auction of the year locally, and my first ever.

The finish mower is a Sitrex SM230, 90" cut. All I could find was a little paint chipping/ peeling at the back of the deck. I got it for $1,000 total.

The Rhino brush cutter appears to be at least a medium duty unit, and aside from the faded paint, one welded repair in the brace, it's not all banged up. I got it for $500 total.

Both units seem to be working fine, everything sounds good, and no odd vibrations. How'd I do as far as price?

I think that you made out very well. That finish mower new sells for about $3,000. The bush hog is listed used from $650 to $1250.

I think you did pretty good. I was going to get a 3 pt finish mower, but my zero turn does all the finish mowing I need, very quickly. I do have a bush hog, and it is nice to have.

Btw, where was the auction?

That Rino is a real heavy duty bush hog. We have one, but they tend to rust. It's worth priming and painting it on top and bottom and keeping it inside. Then it should last many years.

Good tip....thanks. My outbuilding isn't up yet, but will be in the next few months, but priming/painting now can't hurt!

Nice score......
TLC and in your case, blue paint will make them useful a long time.....
