New Holland 1920
I own a 1996 new holland 1920 with an older ford backhoe on it. I think the backhoe dates back to the 80's. All the decals are missing off the backhoe so not able to share that info with you guys . The backhoe currently has a 24" digging bucket on it and for digging ditches and removing small stumps around the yard its just too wide for the little hoe. I have tried going to a few local dealers with no luck, I would like to replace it with either a 12 or 16 inch bucket, any recommendations on what width to buy?

dimensions of the bucket is 7-1/2" between both ears, and 1-1/4" pins, any idea where to source a bucket, i dont mind buying a used one.

I see the problem.
Lots of Ford backhoe buckets on Craigslist, but many are truly monstrous.

Is this anything like what you're looking for?

Perhaps another choice would be to get one made from scratch, or to modify a bucket for a different hoe to fit your mounts. Even if you don't do much welding, if you did all the prep work (cutting and cleaning), then it shouldn't cost too much for a machine shop to drill and mount the proper mounts on any bucket.

Did you see Dave's post here, just for a little inspiration.

thanks for the input, I am still searching for one but it looks like modifying is going to be the best best. I have a 225A stick welder that I am good with so it shouldnt be too bad to modify one. Hardest part will be cutting the old ears off the bucket.

You could also talk to Everything Attachments

Looking at their website, it looks like the backhoe buckets they sell are only for the backhoes they also sell.

However, they make custom front loader buckets. Perhaps you could convince them to try a backhoe bucket build. They periodically post here.

No doubt a custom bucket would cost between $500 and $1000, or perhaps even significantly more.

I would check with a local welding/steel fabricating shop to see what they would charge to cut yours down. For that matter if you were handy with welding you could cut it down yourself.

Another thought is Michigan Iron, they create buckets and ripper tooths from dimensions you send them. Might be worth an inquiry.
