Kubota BX223
I have a Kubota BX2230 - I am getting mixed message from the the specs in the Kubota info and dealers about what size/weight 3 pt. hitch rotary cutter can be safely used with my tractor. The width of the links to attach the cutter is also an issue. Thanks for any help

I have a BX2200 (earlier version of the BX2230), and I use a 42" Woods RCC42 behind it. Personally, I wouldn't go any larger due to the weight of the cutter (I'm not positive on the weight of that specific cutter). The tractor has plenty of power, just not enough weight (IMO) for me to feel stable with the cutter behind it.

The width of the links does make it a PITA to hook up the cutter, but I drop the front of mine on a small (homemade) stand with wheels so that I can roll it around to get it hooked up. It's actually easier to hook up than my 5' rear blade.

Also, keep in mind that you will most-likely have to cut off the drive shaft as well, since the arms on the BX are so short.

Depends somewhat on what kind of terrain you'll be covering. Hilly, rough ground will favor a smaller cutter; if your place is flat and even, you could go a bit larger. Some owners have used cutters up to 48", although that's probably about as big and heavy as you'd want to go... you'd want the FEL mounted or some front weights to keep the front end on the the ground. As noted, there's plenty of power, but the weight and the 3 pt. limitations mean you'll want something on the small side.

I run a 60" finish mower and a 48" brush cutter on my BX2660, I keep the FEL attached. I believe the brush cutters are heavier than the finish mowers. Which mower decks are you considering?

I think you'll be fine on the width; you could always shorten the pins if needed.

Yeah, I'm having the same issues regarding what size of attachments to use. I have a Kubota BX2360. The manual says one thing and the dealers tell me something else. What about tillers? Anyone out there run anything bigger than a 42" (what the manual calls for) on a 2360? Efficient and safe?

I have a 48 inch Rotary cutter. I have hooked it up to my 12hp Kubota and cut several acres of 2-3 foot weeds (slowly). My B4200 will not lift the "Bush Hog" but since it only supports 1/2 the weight (Cutter has a rear wheel) I just pull it along to where I need to cut. I have also run the Rotary Cutter on my MF135. No issues with the PTO shaft.

Check out the King Kutter XB 48" rotary cutter that is made just for small tractors like yours. It is lightweight but still has great features like a cast iron gearbox, stumpjumper, belt shielding and features dual tail wheels for stability. We ship them free to a business or supporting freight terminal within 1,000 miles of Newton, NC.
