planting food plot mixes with OS1548 overseeder without small seed attachment

I was looking at my owners manual's seed rate chart, and it says if I put the cup setting on 5, I will seed red and white clover at a rate of 77 pounds to the acre in high range and 24 in low range. That's way too much, and I don't want to spend money on the small seed attachment box. For planting small seed food plot mixes can I mix them with grass seed?

Any experience or advice would be great. Thank you.

I called Great Plains today about the question I posted earlier. The guy on the other end of the phone was really helpful. He told me planting with the small seed box wasn’t necessary for planting those mixes, as long as I follow the owner’s manual about calibrating the seed cups (which seems pretty easy). He mentioned covering the feed cups so that half as much seed would fall down.
As far as the comment I made earlier about the seeding rate for clovers being too many pounds per acre according to the calibration page; I guess seeding rates at 24 pounds and up per acre are for seeding solid stands of clover instead of a mixed stand of clover and grain.

When I seed my food plots with small seed such as clovers or brassicas I always go with broadcasting instead of using my drill even though I have a small seed attachment on my old JD drill. It's really hard to calibrate and get the small seeds to meter out correctly plus most of the time all you have to do is get them on the surface and packed down and they will germinate. It's real easy to go past that 1/4" seed depth with the drill

as said you would be better off using a 3pt seeder for clover an other small seeds.
