I'm getting my JD 2720 next week, and I am also getting a rotary cutter with it. I'm considering the Land Pride RCR1260 or the RCR1860. There is a $300 price difference between the two (RCR18 being more, obviously).

I'm going to be using the cutter mostly for keeping trails clear and some light brush clearing. There are some rocks that I try to clear out first, but you know how that goes. The 1" size on the RCR12 should be fine, as I plan to take out anything larger and not just cut it off. But for the price difference, I don't want to wish I had gotten the 2" capability of the RCR18.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these two cutters, or have any input on which would be best for my scenario? I don't want too big of a cutter for my tractor (weight-wise).

I have a RCR1860. I picked it over the RCR1260 because I wanted the thicker metal on the deck and thicker stump jumper. On other cutters I have owned these were the weaker areas. These are heavy cutters. Your tractor weighs about 200 pounds more than mine. Going up steep hills with the RCR1860 cutter raised can lift the front end of my tractor. Both of these are good cutters and I think either would be a good choice. Land Pride makes good stuff.

Thanks for the input! I am worried about weight, which is why I like the 1260...it's 100+ lbs. lighter. The 42" cutter I had for my BX2200 would lift the front end off the ground, and I wanted to get away from that with my new tractor. I will have a loader now, but I don't want to HAVE to have it on when I'm using the cutter. But, yes, the heavier components would be a plus.

Thanks again for the help!

I don't like mowing with the loader on either. Our land is mostly flat ground so the RCR1860 works here. Good luck with your purchase.
