Front-End Loader Poor performing Front End Loader

We have installed a hydraulic pump system (pump connected to front pulley on crankshaft) on our MF265 to supply hydraulics for the loader. We were told that having a devoted hydraulic system just for the loader would turn it into a "monster" performing loader. Besides installing the special hydraulic pump, we had all the loader cylinders rebuilt and installed a new two spool control block. The loader still does not operate as a "monster", its more like a little ***** cat. Any suggestions on what we are missing or what we can do to improve the loader operation?

What is the GPM rating on the pump? How many RPM are you running when your operating the loader? I had a simular problem when installing a homemade FEL on my Economy 2414, the original pump was 1.8gpm @ 2000rpm. Fine for operating just the 3pt, but "slower than whale-poop sinking to the bottom of the ocean," when running the loader. Upgraded to a 4.7gpm @ 1800rpm pump, and a 2 spool valve with 15 gpm flow & now it shakes the machine if I twitch the joystick to much.

The pump is a brand new Cross 17 GPM and the two spool valve (brand new Prince) is rated for 25 GPM. Not sure what RPM develops those outputs but, we've tried all RPM levels and still see sluggish performance. We are really disappointed because both the Massey Ferguson dealer and the individual we bought the pump kit from claimed that the system would turn the loader into a "monster". The tractor is a MF265 (65 hp Diesel) and loader is MF as well.

When you say sluggish performance do you mean in power or speed of loader?

I have the same gpm pump and not sure what my loader valve gpm is on my 4400 but its to fast at anything other than an idle, its crazy fast. It comes down so fast without anything in it I'm afraid someone will get hurt if they grab the wrong lever. I'm sure the system just needs to be tweaked some to make it the monster your looking for.

Have you adjusted the relief valve properly? If it is set to low then most of the flow may be bypassing back to the sump.

It lacks power and speed. The only time it moves fast is when lowering the boom. You have to be real careful on how you work the down control not to have the boom slam to the ground.

We haven't made any adjustments yet. Adjusting the relief valve is our last hope before getting an expert involved.

If you had some hoses made check the fittings on the pressure side. They might of used a wrong fitting and put one on that chocks down you flow. Is the relief lefting now? It should even if the flow is chocked down, loader would just be slow. The down side sounds like the flow is ok.
