pto speed 540 rpm on John Deere 3720
I bought a used john deere 3720 - no owners manual. I don't want to sound too stupid but how do you know when the pto is at 540 rpm? I just bought a king kutter 72" inch rototiller and it is suppose to be run at pto of 540 rpm.
Thanks for your knowledge

Re: pto speed 540 rpm on John Deere 3720
On the 3720 the rear pto is only 540 rpm and is not selectable. When you have the PTO engaged run the rpm to the PTO marking on the tachometer. I believe it is around 2300 or so. I can't remember exactly without looking at it but it is clearly marked.
Hope that helps.
BTW- owners manuals are downloadable on JDs website.

Thanks for the info - yes, there is a yellow mark at 2600 rpm on the tach - that must be it. Thanks again
